An attorney for Uber said the company was not “going to get too into the details of the investigation” and that the company would be releasing a statement about the investigation on Monday.
“The company is not going to comment on the matter at this time, as it is a matter for the appropriate law enforcement authorities,” Marc Benioff said in a statement.
“The company takes privacy seriously and we are committed to protecting it.”
The lawyer’s statement comes as Uber has been facing scrutiny for not doing enough to protect its users’ privacy.
In August, a federal judge ruled that Uber had violated the privacy of users of its ride-sharing app.
The judge ordered Uber to provide a copy of all records it holds related to the complaint and the court order that resulted from the case.
Uber has faced criticism from civil liberties groups for not taking more action to protect users’ data.
The attorney’s statement came after a new report on Uber from Axios found that Uber was not doing a good enough job of protecting its users.
We have been working with the government to implement our new privacy practices and are confident that the new guidelines will protect our customers and employees.
Uber has also launched a new Privacy Team that will work to improve our privacy practices to ensure the highest level of security and privacy for our customers, employees and partners.”
